The lodge is set on an escarpment with spectacular views of New Zealand's Southern Alps from every room. Designed by a local architect, the reclaimed timber and beams used in the lodge construction give the guest accommodation and living areas a sense of warmth, intimacy and history. Richly polished jarrah floors extend throughout both lounges, historic wharf timbers and massive railway beams show century old adze work. Much of the furniture and metalwork is handcrafted. The location assures you of calm and privacy and the atmosphere is unstuffy, combining professional service with engaging warmth and hospitality. We can advise you on an active or adventurous stay, a special celebration or idyllic romantic retreat, or you may simply enjoy your surroundings and explore the tracks that lead down to the river from the lodge.
